At the April 9 meeting, guest Mitch Kleist, representing MAYBA and the Eagle Lake Expos, presented planned upgrades and use details for the ballfields at Eagle Lake Park.
Kleist outlined possible locations for a new shed to replace the current outbuilding—near the dugout, by the warming house, or along the third baseline—and said the group is considering a removable 4-foot green mesh fence for seasonal use along the third baseline. He said an irrigation system inspection will be scheduled after water service is turned on and that the Expos’ first home game is planned for Mother’s Day.
Kleist reported field users will include East Junior High JV and MSU Club Baseball teams, and that MAYBA expects to use the field three to four days per week for practices and backup games. He flagged uncertainty about rental payments from MAPS and expressed interest in establishing a formal usage agreement to clarify payment and responsibilities. Tree plantings for visibility screening and weed spraying by Pinnacle Landscaping were also part of the field maintenance plan. The minutes identify Cale Willard as the Expos’ field contact.
The Park Board did not record a final decision on shed placement, fence installation, or MAPS rental payments during the meeting; these items will proceed through the board and staff process as needed.
