Eagle Lake defers decision on fire-hall security system after chief recommends existing vendor

Fire Chief Spencer Kolles presented two bids to upgrade access and communications for the fire hall. The lower bid, from Mike Bales of Freedom Security, would upgrade park equipment and install a cloud-based system for $10,449.30 but would require a subscription. Chief Kolles recommended accepting the higher bid from WW Communications ($11,702.35) because he has prior experience with that vendor and prefers system compatibility across city facilities.
Council members discussed cost, reprogramming existing locks and the potential to move equipment to a future fire hall. Kolles asked to table the matter to the May council meeting so a WW Communications representative can be present; the council agreed to postpone further action to allow vendor representation and additional information to be presented.
