The Eagle Lake City Council on April 6 approved multiple lower-dollar maintenance and park improvements to support operations and recreation areas.
Public Works Director Andrew Hartman presented a quote from Loken’s Asphalt Maintenance for street sweeping at $125 per hour and an estimated total of $5,000 to complete the work starting in mid-April; the council approved the $5,000 contract. Hartman also recommended purchasing three hydrant relief valves from Core and Main for $2,475 so staff have equipment on hand instead of borrowing from neighboring cities; the council authorized that purchase.
For Lake Eagle Park, Hartman recommended Brothers Gutters to install gutters on the pavilion for erosion control at a cost of $3,750; the council approved the quote. He also requested purchase and installation of six maple trees from Mankato Landshapes, Inc. for $1,650 to replace ash trees; council authorized the purchase and noted a separate quote will be obtained to treat remaining healthy ash trees.
Separately, Administrator Jennifer Bromeland presented a request from Ben Groebner to rent council chambers on Tuesdays this summer for tutoring; the council approved a reduced rental fee of $25 per day and agreed to provide the breakroom as an alternative if the city needs the chambers on a tutoring day.
