The board discussed siting the playground east of the restrooms so a concrete sidewalk could be installed to make access ADA compliant. Public Works Director Hartman warned that some rubber base materials can be costly to dispose of because they may be treated as hazardous waste, a factor that will affect base-surface decisions and budget estimates.
Funding options outlined included pursuing grants, using budgeted Park Land funds where allowable, and fundraising. Administrator Bromeland said she and Council Member Beth Rohrich viewed a DNR outdoor recreation grant webinar to explore potential grant opportunities. The board asked potential vendors to provide aerial layouts to assist with placement and requested drawings that could be used on a fundraising flyer.
Next steps: the board asked vendors for layouts and grant information, and Beth Rohrich will compile a list of past donation contacts for outreach. Board members discussed ordering equipment late in 2026 with a goal of installation in 2027, though no formal purchase or budget appropriation was made at the meeting.
