Eagle Lake council approves contracts, auditing and maintenance proposals, and meter purchases

The City Council approved multiple procurement and contract actions intended to shore up municipal services and operations.
Council accepted Abdo’s proposal to provide auditing services for the years ending 2025–2027 at amounts of $35,550 (2025), $37,500 (2026) and $39,500 (2027) following staff review of three proposals. Separately, the council approved a one-year, as-needed accounting-services engagement with Abdo Financial Solutions estimated at $7,500 to assist with bank reconciliations, month-end close activities and journal entries.
Public Works Director Andrew Hartman requested authorization to purchase 48 residential water meters from Metering and Technology Solutions at a total cost of $16,272, noting many in-service meters are at the end of their life expectancy; the council approved that purchase unanimously.
On facilities contracts, staff presented preventive maintenance proposals for City Hall HVAC. Skogen Mechanical offered two inspections per year for $950 versus the current provider Schwickert at $1,568; the council accepted Skogen’s proposal with the contract change to take effect when the current agreement expires July 27, 2026.
Bromeland also reported Verizon intends to install C-Band equipment on the city water tower. Bolton & Menk will review and approve all drawings and the cost for those reviews is to be passed on to Verizon. Verizon proposed a $10,000 escrow; Bolton & Menk recommended $20,000 because of project delays and additional meetings. Council authorized staff to sign the escrow agreement once an escrow amount is agreed upon.
