The Dexter City Council on Aug. 11, 2025 voted to hire M & M Construction to carry out street repairs on Pleasant Street, West Maple Street and Industrial Park Drive.
Mayor Justin Forthun presented competing estimates for several blacktop projects and identified the street-repair work as a priority. The estimates for the street repairs ranged from $9,500 to $16,107. Councilmember Casey Erwin moved to hire M & M Construction for the street repairs; Councilmember Christian Padilla seconded the motion, which passed with all members voting in favor.
Council members said they would seek other funding options for larger park projects and postponed a decision on a proposed walking path until funding is identified. The council recorded the hire as a contract award limited to street repairs only; no park or walking-path work was authorized in the motion.
Next steps include moving forward with the street-repair contract with M & M Construction and returning to the council with any funding options or contract details related to park work and the proposed Pleasant Street walking path.
