EDC reports 119 attendees at summit, announces new office and fall small-business assistance

The Economic Development Corporation reported 119 attendees at its April summit, said more than half were businesses (mostly small), announced a move to a new office near the Freemark property, and previewed a formalized technical-assistance program launching this fall.
An Economic Development Corporation representative updated the committee on recent EDC activity and plans.
“We ended up having a 119 attendees throughout the day, which is our largest yet for our 3rd year,” the EDC representative said, noting that more than half of attendees were businesses, most of them small firms. The summit took place April 28 at the Expo Center.
The representative said the EDC has moved from the Lincoln County Service Center to a new location in the former adult charter school office in front of the Freemark property, providing additional meeting and training space for partners and clients.
On programming, the EDC representative said the organization is developing a more formal technical-assistance program for small businesses to launch this fall; in the meantime, the EDC remains available to provide ad hoc assistance and referrals to local resources.
Committee members raised questions about how many attendees came from outside Lincoln County; the EDC representative said most attendees were within about an hour’s drive and that some participants traveled from neighboring counties, but did not provide a precise outside-county count.
The update was delivered as an informational briefing; no policy action or funding decision was taken at the meeting.
