Organizers report strong turnout, $8,800 ATM take at Merrill Food Truck-a-Palooza
Summary
City marketing staff reported roughly 632 $1 wristbands sold, about 45 craft vendors and 35 food trucks, and an ATM that processed about $8,800; organizers said revenue came from sponsors, vendors and wristbands rather than general taxpayer funds.

Hallie, marketing specialist for the City of Merrill, said the Food Truck-a-Palooza drew large crowds and generated vendor revenue and sponsorships that covered event costs.
“I figured we had, I think, 632 wristbands sold for a dollar,” Hallie said, and later reported that “the ATM went through $8,800,” evidence she cited to show strong on-site spending. She told the committee 45 craft vendors and roughly 35 food trucks attended and that several trucks sold out.
Hallie said organizers sent feedback forms to vendors asking about economic impact to better measure benefits to the community. She also recommended staffing improvements for future events: contracted help for parking management and for garbage/bathroom upkeep rather than relying on volunteers.
Chair (Speaker 2) and other committee members praised the turnout and discussed minor operational improvements, including recruiting a nonprofit or sponsor to help manage parking and hiring staff to maintain restrooms and waste collection during the event.
Hallie told the committee that early seed money for the event came from sponsorships and that the first-year startup used ARPA funds; she emphasized current operations are supported by wristband, vendor and sponsor revenue and are not paid from the city’s general operating budget. “There was people saying that Food Truck a Palooza was paid for by taxpayer dollars, and that is simply not the case,” Hallie said.
The committee set a tentative date for next year’s Food Truck-a-Palooza on May 15 and asked staff to continue collecting vendor feedback and economic-impact data to guide planning and sponsorship outreach.
The committee did not take a formal vote specific to the event budget during this meeting; the report was provided as an informational update.
