Echo council hears fire and first-responder updates; sidewalks and dangerous dogs raised

Councilmembers noted that Taneka Olsen will start First Responder classes in January at no cost to the city because Granite Falls Ambulance secured a grant to cover the training. The council voted to defer ordering three safety jackets until the new members complete training. First Responder personnel also reported an issue involving wrong blood-pressure machine attachments and expected a resolution by year end.
Mayor James Busack reported a recent dog attack on a resident's cat; county authorities have classified the dogs as dangerous and told the owner to follow directives in order to continue owning them. Separately, Fire Chief Dunphy raised a recurring enforcement problem: the city is finding it difficult to enforce the ordinance that requires residents to clear sidewalks of snow, particularly near the school.
