At the start of the Sept. 10 Echo City Council meeting resident Gayle Pederson addressed the council about a property next to his that he said remained untidy despite repeated notices.
Pederson told the council the property’s residents have been sent letters to clean up the property several times. Council members responded that the city has limited enforcement options because Echo has no municipal police force; they said the city will continue to send letters to residents who violate local ordinances.
Mayor James Busack, who was absent from the meeting, had left a note listing property issues in town; the transcript notes some of those issues had been corrected since the note was written. The council did not record any further enforcement steps beyond continuing written notice and the matter was not scheduled for a formal hearing at this meeting.
