Commission reviews trail feasibility, timber sale and program updates; moves meetings to City Hall

Commissioners reviewed the Trail Feasibility Plan and a project timeline: a draft CIP/report in March 2026, a public open house in May and a final report to Council in June. The CSAH 3 trail extension (HSIP) is in preliminary engineering with Widseth and Crow Wing County; the project remains on track for spring 2027 construction, subject to Corps of Engineers review.
Crow Wing County announced a timber sale under its 50‑year plan; commissioners noted virgin white pines will not be harvested and that staff will coordinate neighbor notification for five properties to minimize complaints.
Bolton & Menk will lead development of the Brainerd Lakes Area Vulnerable Users Plan, a multi‑community effort to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Program updates: baseball registrations are open through March 30; Silver Sneakers evening yoga starts in April; an Easter Egg Hunt in April will involve hiding more than 400 eggs; WinterFest recap and Town Square event fundraising were reported by community school representative Heidi O'Brien (spaghetti dinner raised almost $4,000). The commission decided future meetings will be held at City Hall starting next month to take advantage of better audio and recording equipment. Next meeting set for March 25, 2026.
