Crosslake council approves consent calendar, donations, TIF transfer, road projects and ordinance naming Fire Dance Drive
Summary
At its Feb. 9 meeting the Crosslake City Council approved the consent calendar (including Resolution 26-04), accepted several donations and grants, placed $7,281.94 in excess TIF funds into the road reserve, approved a construction cost-share with Crow Wing County, authorized Sunrise Blvd bid advertisement, adopted Ordinance No. 411 naming 'Fire Dance Drive,' and approved an IT/server upgrade for the police department.
The Crosslake City Council on Feb. 9 approved a package of routine actions, including acceptance of donations, placement of excess TIF funds into the road reserve, adoption of a road-naming ordinance and authorization of road-project steps and an IT upgrade for the police department.
By Motion 02R-02-26 the council approved the consent calendar, which included minutes, professional services agreements with Bolton & Menk, department reports, contribution reports and Resolution No. 26-04 approving off-site charitable gambling for Confidence Learning Center at Whitefish Lodge and Suites on March 14, 2026. The motion carried with all ayes. The bills presented for approval totaled $389,994.95 with an additional set of bills totaling $28,377.40.
Council adopted Resolution No. 26-05 (Motion 02R-03-26) accepting financial donations and grants earmarked for police equipment, a police exercise room, rescue equipment, planning and zoning training, open-meeting-law training and disaster preparedness training. The council recorded donors and intended uses in the accompanying resolution.
On finance matters, the council voted (02R-04-26) to place $7,281.94 of excess TIF funds in the road reserve fund. The council also voted (02R-05-26) not to waive the municipal tort monetary limits under Minnesota Statute 466.04; both motions passed unanimously.
Public Works reported and the council approved (02R-06-26) a construction cost-share agreement with Crow Wing County for bituminous seal coat work included in the 2026 road improvement projects (CP 18-200-140 & CP 18-300-48). The council also authorized advertising for bids for Sunrise Boulevard improvements to proceed immediately after county bids open Feb. 18 (02R-08-26) and approved the concept of a 5-year road plan (02R-09-26).
Planning & Zoning business included adoption of Ordinance No. 411 to name an unnamed road 'Fire Dance Drive' and adding it to the master road-name index; the council also voted to publish a summary of the ordinance (02R-10-26 and 02R-11-26).
Police Chief Jake Maier reported that a Bureau of Criminal Apprehension CJIS audit required a server upgrade; the council approved a proposal from Xtona to upgrade the police department server with required safety features (02R-12-26). Motion to adjourn (02R-13-26) carried unanimously and the meeting ended at 6:56 p.m.
Mayor Jackson Purfeerst thanked council and staff for their support and said he intends to remain as mayor despite rumors of higher office.
