Council approves $15,000 allocation breakdown to fund Fourth of July parade security

Parks Director Lina Hicks said the resolution authorizes use of $15,000 previously approved by council and breaks down spending as follows: $8,500 for route barriers, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff assigned to the event, and $4,000 to the Chamber of Commerce to hire security and event staff. "The funds have already been authorized by council; this breaks out how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
A motion to approve the resolution was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with the chair announcing the resolution passed.
What this means: Funding is now allocated to physical barriers, additional city staffing overtime, and Chamber-contracted security for parade operations on July 4. No additional budget increase beyond the previously authorized $15,000 was recorded in the June 22 action.
