The Mount Vernon City Council accepted closeout of the 2024 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project at its May 4, 2026 meeting, approving related paperwork and a retainage payment. Council approved Resolution #5-4-2026B accepting work performed by Municipal Pipe Tool Co.; City staff reported the final contract price as $611,177.37, about $100,000 under the original budget. Motion to accept the work was made by Rose and seconded by Hansen-Player; the roll call vote was recorded as all yes.
Council also approved Pay Application #7 to Municipal Pipe Tool Co. in the amount of $63,892.83, described in the packet as the project's retainage. The packet notes that those funds will be released to the contractor after the mandatory waiting period has lapsed. The pay-application motion was made by Tuerler and seconded by Engel and carried.
The council simultaneously approved Resolution #5-4-2026C to order construction and set a public hearing for the Bryant Road Sanitary Sewer Project, which will service the new Public Works facility and planned housing development between 3rd Street SW and Bryant Road. The public hearing was scheduled for May 18, 2026 at 6:30 p.m.
