Council schedules May vote on updated bylaws and flags two board vacancies

At the April 22 meeting the board agreed to bring revised bylaws to a vote at the May meeting (with the annual meeting month changed to September). The board also noted two vacancies and said the mayor’s office was notified.
Pam reviewed the revised Council on Aging bylaws and asked the board to schedule a vote in May to forward the document to the Lynn City Council for final action.
"We just need now to have a vote to pass it out favorably to the city council for a vote," Pam said, urging members to read the proposed changes and to provide any wording edits before the May meeting. Board members discussed the month for the annual in‑person meeting; Pam said the annual meeting must be held in person and suggested either the board’s regular April or September meeting. Members favored changing the annual meeting month to September to allow more time to review the bylaws.
A motion to put the bylaws to a vote at the May meeting was made, seconded and approved by voice/wave. The motion included updating the bylaws to set the board’s annual meeting month to September.
The board also discussed membership vacancies. Staff and the chair said they have contacted the mayor’s office about two openings and will follow up; one opening had been outstanding and a second vacancy was expected. The city clerk’s office is coordinating term records and the chair said she would reach out to the mayor’s office to confirm next steps.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that was seconded and approved.
