The West Haven Special Service District board voted on June 22 to adopt amendments to the 2025–26 budget and to approve the 2026–27 final budget after brief staff explanations of the changes.
Katie, a district staff member, told the board two budget amendments were included: an increase to depreciation accounting to account for capital projects closing out the fiscal year and an increase to a line related to payments owed to the City to ensure the district would not run a deficit while year-end accounting completed. Katie said the extra amount would likely not be used if the payments reconcile but was added to avoid state compliance issues.
Chair James Jensen entertained motions to enter public hearings and to act on the amendments; no members of the public offered comment during the hearings. The board carried motions to adopt Resolution 05-2026 approving budget amendments and Resolution 06-2026 adopting the 2026–27 final budget (the transcript records roll-call-style assent but individual vote names are not recorded verbatim in the transcript excerpt).
The board also formally accepted the district’s annual fraud and risk assessment; staff noted this is an annual requirement and that internal auditing documentation remains outstanding.
The district’s immediate next step is routine budget implementation and year-end accounting; staff said any surplus in the additional line item would remain unused rather than automatically reallocated, and they will reconcile the payment account once City invoicing is finalized.
