The Stallings Town Council unanimously approved a text amendment (TX 26-05-01) on June 22 that restores additional wireless telecommunication facility standards inadvertently removed from the town’s development ordinance during a 2021 upload.
Planning staff explained the change is strictly corrective: the language being restored is word-for-word from the pre-2021 ordinance and is being renumbered so the code aligns with North Carolina General Statute 160D. "During that ordinance upload, a technology glitch occurred that caused a formatting error," staff member Katie said. "This update corrects the error and restores compliance with state statutes."
The planning board and staff recommended approval. The council moved, seconded and voted unanimously in favor of the amendment and the corresponding statement of consistency and reasonableness.
The amendment takes effect according to the town’s ordinance adoption schedule and restores the local standards that guide telecommunication facility siting and design in Stallings.
