Legislature authorizes acceptance of NYS WAMO 15-8 claim buyout proposal covering seven claims

On March 19 the Franklin County Legislature adopted Resolution No. 76 authorizing the Director of Worker's Compensation to accept a proposal from the New York State Waiver Agreement Management Office (WAMO) to make upfront payments toward 15-8 claims. The Director reported seven claims are associated with the proposal.
Under the authorization, the county would accept WAMO funds and place them in an interest-bearing account to allow offers to be made to close out older claims. The resolution gives the Director authority to accept the settlement agreement terms as presented. The Legislature adopted the measure unanimously on a motion by Legislator Dabiew, seconded by Legislator Lauzon.
The minutes record that the action is limited to acceptance of the WAMO proposal and do not list individual claimant details or projected net savings; finance staff will process the associated accounting entries if the Director finalizes acceptance.
