Board warns of high flu activity and rising COVID cases; regional summary planned

Mansfield, MA — At its Jan. 8 meeting the Mansfield Board of Health was warned that seasonal influenza activity is very high and COVID-19 cases are increasing in the region.
Chair Kasia Frenette told the board “the numbers for flu are very high, as well as Covid increasing.” She said flu vaccines remain available at local pharmacies and through health-care providers and that she will prepare a yearly summary of infectious-disease data covering Mansfield and six neighboring towns for the next meeting.
The board also listed recurring free community health screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, Hands-only CPR) at the Council on Aging and Town Hall, and noted the regional public-health nurse’s schedule. Department updates included completion of 2026 permit renewals and progress on PFAS, FOG, and FDA Retail Standards grants and housing inspections.
No formal public comments were recorded and the meeting adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
