Manitou Springs staff said the Hiawatha Gardens parking lot is nearly ready for limited public use and that associated services—including a PikeRide station reinstall and bike lockers—will be brought online when the lot reopens.
In a June 24 update, staff reported that a pre‑punch inspection turned up only minor findings and that a soft opening for roughly 90% of the lot is planned for the July 4 weekend. Staff said a kiosk will be installed, lockers for cyclists are being provided, and PikeRide was notified to reinstall bikes at the Hiawatha location once the lot is available.
Board members asked about restroom availability. Staff said the lot’s bathrooms are functionally close to ready—water and electricity are connected—but that connector work to meet ADA sidewalk/approach requirements remained unfinished. Staff said porta‑potties would remain as a standby until final completion and that they would confirm a hard opening date by email to the board.
The reopening is intended to support downtown mobility and transit connections; staff noted they had already shared relocation details with PikeRide so the micromobility operator could prepare station hardware and reinstallation. The board plans to watch staff’s follow-up email for the confirmed bathroom opening date and any formal ribbon‑cutting schedule.
