The Lewiston Town Board on June 22 approved a package of local operational actions including resident relief, park repairs, personnel hiring and resident bill forgiveness.
Sewer relief: The board voted to provide $325 in sewer relief for a resident (referenced as Danny Zo during discussion) after hearing that the sewer bill had risen substantially above the normal level because of late charges. The chair called for a motion and the motion carried.
Dog park concrete: The board approved awarding the concrete work at the dog park to the lowest bidder for $13,600 to install concrete at both entrances and under obstacles to stop undermining and reduce flooding damage. The motion passed after staff described site issues and a review of three bids.
Summer hire: Members approved hiring one summer employee, Colin Cosgrove, for the water department at $18 per hour, with a start date of June 23.
Excess equipment and disposal: The board declared several broken refrigerators and incubators as excess equipment to be disposed of, with staff to remove any components as required prior to disposal.
Pool-liner forgiveness: Councilman Berg brought two forgiveness requests for replacement pool liners. The board approved forgiveness of $325 for the liner at 470 Mount View Drive (applicant Chelsea Backs) and $8,484 for a liner at 4685 Lane (Thomas Ivans).
Claims and budgets: The board approved minutes for earlier meetings, approved regular abstract claims recommending payments totaling $216,510.17, and accepted five budget revisions for fiscal year 2026 as submitted.
Sewer project update: Jeff Ritter of the water department reported that the Morgan relief sewer installation is progressing more slowly than expected because of rain but that crews are making steady progress.
These measures were routine operational decisions intended to address immediate local needs; none of these items required additional public hearings at the June 22 meeting. The board took each action by motion; specific aye/no tallies were not read into the record beyond the chair calling for those in favor and noting any opposition verbally.
