Malden School Committee advances four superintendent finalists, schedules public interviews

Ms. Spadafora, announcing the search committee’s recommendations, said the committee reviewed 14 complete applications, invited seven candidates to interview and formally interviewed six, with one candidate withdrawing after accepting another post. The four finalists advanced for public interviews are Brent Conway, M.Ed.; Robin Desmond, M.Ed. (ABO); Timothy Sippel, Ed.L.O.; and Paul Texeira, M.A., GAGS. Ms. Spadafora moved to accept the slate and begin the formal public process; Ms. Rose‑Zeiberg seconded and a roll call vote recorded unanimous approval.
The search committee chair praised members for the screening work and described the next steps: each finalist will be invited to visit Malden, meet stakeholders and participate in a formal public interview before the School Committee. Glenn Koocher, speaking at the meeting, confirmed that from this point forward the finalist visits and interviews will be conducted publicly.

The committee thanked members of the search committee, including Maria Luise, Kashawna Harling, Glenn Koocher and Alicia Mallon, for their work on the process. Next procedural steps include scheduling two special School Committee meetings to host public interviews, with each meeting expected to accommodate two finalist interviews and stakeholder feedback.
