The Berlin-Boylston Regional School Committee Policy Subcommittee met Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at Tahanto Regional Middle/High School in Boylston and reviewed a batch of policy updates and two new policy proposals, discussing whether to forward them to the full school committee for consideration.
The subcommittee, called to order at 11:12 a.m., examined existing policies DJE (versus DJE-1), BH (School Committee Communication), and BEDA (Notification of School Committee Meetings). Members discussed deleting and renaming DJE, and considered forwarding DJE, BH and BEDA to the full committee for votes; the transcript records conversation about sending these items onward but does not record any formal motions or votes.
The group also reviewed two proposed new policies. CHE, a draft District Professional Dress Code, was presented for a first read and discussion about sending it to the full committee for first reading. BL, a proposed policy addressing past and present members and graduating family members, likewise received a first-read discussion; the transcript does not include the text of either proposal.
Aaron Osborne, director of finance services, participated in discussion of a proposed amendment to the regional agreement aimed at language cleanup; Osborne said he will provide more detail at a future meeting. The subcommittee did not record any formal adoption or final action on the regional agreement amendment during this session.
The meeting adjourned at 11:19 a.m. The items discussed at the subcommittee level are expected to appear on the full Berlin-Boylston Regional School Committee agenda for either first readings or votes, per the subcommittee discussion.
