Blandford Select Board approves ambulance representative, minutes and $11,900 for highway fuel tank work

The board voted unanimously to approve the Select Board meeting minutes from Feb. 10, 2026 after a motion by J. Coury and a second from C. Letendre. The board then moved, on a motion by J. Coury seconded by C. Letendre, to appoint Maureen Boomsma as Blandford’s representative to the Hilltown Community Ambulance Association; meeting notes record the board thanked Boomsma for her dedication.
Later in the meeting the board discussed painting exterior fuel tanks at the highway garage, referencing a prior estimate of about $12,000. Chair J. Coury moved to approve $11,900 to be paid from Free Cash for site services related to the exterior fuel tanks and adjoining staircase; T. Cousineau seconded and the motion passed with all members in favor.
Members also reviewed departmental updates: the town administrator was absent; Chair J. Coury described an ADA activity update tied to a small grant with work to be completed by June 30, 2026; Coury said she expected an audio-conferencing equipment quote for the gymnasium and Select Board room on April 14; an electrician had been hired to add a switch to a noisy heating unit in the Select Board room to reduce interruptions to Zoom recordings; and updated EPSEC bylaws and a map had been sent to town counsel.
Select Board members reported attending the "Beacon Hill in the Berkshires" meeting, presented by Senator Paul Mark, where small-town officials discussed rising insurance costs and the financial strain of complying with battery storage and commercial solar requirements. The meeting’s public participation period included a request from Corinne Shartrand to place a welcome sign for the 250th celebration (the chair will check sign bylaws) and a question from Pamela Dirschka about political sign bylaws (the board stated political signs are not allowed on town property).
