Assessor Smith and Margit Mikuski of the Council on Aging presented a proposal to reorganize Blandford’s Senior Work-Off program and place it on the Annual Town Meeting warrant. Assessor Smith said the proposal would authorize 10 positions at $1,500 each, for a budget impact of $15,000, and be funded from the town budget.
The presenters said participating departments would determine the work assignments and hours; the Treasurer is involved to address tax consequences. Town Administrator Cristina Ferrera told the board the program policy has already been written and that departmental oversight will be part of administration.
Chair J. Coury asked for more detail on program controls and how the town would ensure consistent administration across departments before the Select Board commits to final warrant language. The board did not vote on the item at the meeting; the matter was described as a proposal to be placed on the Annual Town Meeting warrant pending further information.
