Town Administrator reports DPU hearing request, passing water test and Automated Logic system review

Town Administrator Cristina Ferrera reported several operational and public‑safety items at the Jan. 27 Blandford Select Board meeting.
Ferrera said the last communication from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) was Dec. 10 and that the DPU asked to hold its meeting on Feb. 3 with a rain date of Feb. 11; Ferrera said she had received no additional communication since Dec. 10. Separately, Ferrera said she had received a notice from the Town Administrator of Becket scheduling a Feb. 11, 2026, 6:00 p.m. public hearing on a special permit to authorize a shared driveway; the notice was sent to Blandford as an abutting town.
On municipal facilities, Ferrera reported Automated Logic and John Hoppe are reviewing problems with the building's automated system; no timeline or corrective action was recorded in the minutes. On water quality, Interim Water Superintendent Steve Grondin told the board Blandford passed the most recent disinfectant byproduct water test, a routine compliance result.
Ferrera also said she will request a meeting with the Finance Appointing Committee to consider applicant Alison Craig for a vacancy on the Finance Committee. Executive Assistant Joann Martin raised concerns about the flow of the updated Inclement Weather (Town Closure) Policy and said she will edit the draft and return it to the Select Board for review.
