Washington County Commissioners Court handled several routine administrative and financial items on June 23, approving parade permits, an audit engagement letter, publication authorizations for potential debt, and the accounts-payable docket.
The court approved the 2026 Chapel Hill Fourth of July parade permit after a commissioner reported the application was unchanged from prior years and recommended approval. The court recorded a motion, a second and a voice vote to carry the motion.
For the FY26 annual financial audit, staff asked the court to authorize the county judge to execute an engagement letter with Singleton Park Company PC; the court approved the engagement and authorized the judge to sign.
On a separate agenda item staff presented a draft order authorizing publication of the notice of intention to issue certificates of obligation and the related preliminary official statement; staff emphasized this was preliminary and not a final borrowing decision. The court approved the order authorizing publication and distribution of the preliminary official statement.
Later the court reviewed accounts payable totaling $895,261.58. Finance staff noted a capital-projects entry of $142,752.00 for two new ambulances; on a motion and second the court approved the accounts-payable docket by voice vote.
All approvals were taken by voice vote; no roll-call vote tallies were recorded on the public record. These items generally moved routine administration and finance housekeeping forward; staff will complete signature and publication steps as authorized.
