Perkiomen Valley board approves series of personnel items and collective bargaining agreement

The Perkiomen Valley School District board approved a package of routine personnel actions at a short bonus meeting in June, including a memorandum of understanding for the PBEA agreement, an amended early-retirement incentive, multiple professional and support appointments, and the MCFS collective bargaining agreement.

Dr. Russell opened with the district mission statement before the board moved on to business. The agenda was approved “as presented” after a motion by Mr. McKenna and a second from Miss Westfall; the motion carried with no discussion. The board then took up the memorandum of understanding for the PBEA; Mr. McGuire moved the measure and Mr. Liot seconded, and the board approved the MOU as presented.

Later personnel items were approved in succession. The board approved an amended early-retirement incentive plan (motion by Mr. Leant; second by Miss Westfall), accepted listed resignations and retirements, and approved the professional personnel appointments, leaves of absence, and support appointments as presented. The MCFS collective bargaining agreement was approved after a motion from Mr. Maguire and a second by Mr. Liot. Several motions recorded the routine clerk call for “all in favor,” followed by “motion carries.”

Board members opened two public-comment periods but recorded no speakers. During board-member comments, one board member said they were “disappointed in…and for not doing any motioning,” a remark met with light responses from colleagues. Several members thanked Dr. Russell and Dr. Nicholson for conducting an in-depth walkthrough earlier that day of a south elementary school.
