Road Commissioner Keith Lacasse told the Select Board that road reclamation in town will begin Monday, Oct. 27, and that paving is scheduled for Nov. 3. Reclaiming is expected to take about four days. Lacasse said he did not secure a grader this year and will request an hourly price to have Ingraham Road graded while a grader is available in town.
Lacasse presented a quote from Williams for $99,900 to put base down on Greylock Road from the bottom to the gate. He also gave the board an $800 bill from Berkshire Regional Planning for the purchasing group and shared a $19,400 estimate from Appalachia Salt for road salt, which he said he does not recommend purchasing at that price. Select Board member Ken McInerney raised concerns about salting roads so close to a stream; the board discussed performing tree work before laying base and developing a tree canopy maintenance plan for town roads.
The board noted a recently announced grant that could be applied to the Ingraham Road culvert, Greylock Road paving or tree maintenance and said it will explore that funding option.
