New Ashford schedules Nov. 3 hearing on 4,000‑gallon propane storage plan

Kyle George told the Select Board that H.A. George will file an application on behalf of Steven Nielsen to store 4,000 gallons of propane in four 1,000‑gallon buried tanks — three to serve the house and generator and one for a pool heater. The proposal, George said, would reduce propane‑truck deliveries during winter months.
The board set a public hearing for Nov. 3, 2025, and directed that abutters be notified and a newspaper notice placed. Chair Jason Jayko said the Fire Chief should attend the hearing to answer safety and operational questions. The application notes the tanks would be buried with independent regulators and shutoffs.
The hearing will be the formal opportunity for neighbors and the board to raise safety, environmental or operational concerns; the Select Board did not take a final vote on the storage license at the Oct. 20 meeting.
