Select Board approves minutes, signs warrant and agrees to draft local-aid support letter

The New Ashford Select Board met Dec. 1 and approved minutes from its Nov. 18 meeting on a motion by Mark Phelps, seconded by Ken McInerney; that vote was unanimous. The board also approved the Nov. 3 public hearing minutes on a motion by Ken McInerney and seconded by Jason Jayko; Mark Phelps abstained on that item. The warrant for town payments was reviewed and signed.
Board members discussed a request from the town of Fairhaven for a letter supporting an increase in state local aid. The board agreed the draft should reference payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT), the costs of online permitting, fire department expenses and unfunded training mandates; Jason Jayko will prepare the letter on town letterhead for signature by the board.
Diane George said a presenter requested to speak about the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which assists low-income households with home repairs; the board will invite that presenter to its Dec. 15 meeting. The board set its next meeting for Dec. 15, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
