Recycling contamination threatens transfer-station service; MLP notes repair plan and payment arrangement

Ken McInerney told the Select Board that the metal and plastic recycling bin at the transfer station is contaminated and warned that continued contamination — without someone to man the station — could lead to closure of recycling collection.
One person responded to an advertised recycling-attendant position with a question about whether hours could be scheduled on a weekday other than Friday, Saturday or Sunday. McInerney said he is exploring shared services with nearby Lanesboro and will circulate a SurveyMonkey survey to residents to collect input on hours.
On MLP business, McInerney said he sent EFT information for the CAF II deposit and will call John Leary to discuss a federal item. He reported a resident needed two repairs due to rodent damage; the owner agreed to a six-month, interest-free payment plan for the cost of the second repair. McInerney said he will discuss with Whip City whether a satellite service could handle repairs to reduce costs.
