The Town of Sharon Inland Wetland & Watercourse Commission on April 13 approved an application to construct a driveway at 367 Route 7 after a site visit and presentation by applicant Ian Tyson.
Tyson presented updated drawings that include erosion-control measures — staked haybales, silt fence and anti-tracking pads — and a proposal to improve an existing swale to capture runoff into a crowned driveway that channels water into the upgraded grassy swale. He said the proposal anticipates extensive tree cutting and excavation, with all removed material to be taken off site. The State Department of Transportation requires a paved apron at the road, with the remainder of the driveway surfaced in gravel.
Commission members voted to approve the application as presented (motion by Sharon Tingley, second by Larry Rand); the motion carried with all in favor. The commission recorded requirements for erosion-control measures to remain in place during excavation and until the area is stabilized with seed, hay mulch and wood chips; anti-tracking pads were required during construction phases.
