New Marlborough historical commission votes to proceed with proposed pause bylaw for historic villages

The New Marlborough Historical Commission voted at its Jan. 20 meeting to proceed with a proposed "pause" bylaw that would require a short public-comment period before new construction in designated historic village sections. Dr. John Schreiber, who called the meeting to order, said the draft is modeled on the town's demolition bylaw and is intended to allow abutters and neighbors an opportunity to comment without preventing construction.

The measure, as discussed, would apply to mapped village sections and impose a pause period for comments from abutters, neighbors and other interested parties.
