The Newport Historic Preservation Commission discussed possible dates to review a proposed Monmouth overlay, with Chair Kolb saying July 29 is under consideration and July 22 or a special-call early-evening schedule as alternatives.
Chair Kolb explained the procedural path for an overlay: the commission reviews the Monmouth overlay first, then it goes to the Planning & Zoning Commission, and finally to the Board of Commissioners. The chair reiterated that, per commission practice stated on the record, all designations require two readings before the Board of Commissioners.
Commissioners discussed minimizing multiple monthly meetings and possibly using a 4:00 p.m. special meeting followed by a 5:00 p.m. regular meeting so members would not need to attend multiple separate sessions in one month. No final date was set; Chair Kolb said staff would confirm and publish the schedule once available.
