Kim Charland, Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Programs, described IB Business Management as available at Higher Level and Standard Level, designed to teach business concepts, analytical tools and decision-making strategies. She said textbook unit pricing is $109.95 (Oxford Resources for IB) and estimated up to three 30-student sections in the first year, yielding an estimated general-fund impact of $9,895.50 for 2026–27. This was presented as a first reading; no board action was required.
Charland also presented IB Global Politics as an interdisciplinary two-year course exploring power, sovereignty, human rights, development and global cooperation. Unit pricing for the required textbook was listed as $93.95 per unit; an estimated maximum impact of $8,455.50 was calculated for up to three sections; this too was a first reading with no vote.
Both requests were stated to have been reviewed by Business Finance, Teaching and Learning and the Curriculum Subcommittee. The board received the proposals for consideration at a future date.
