Utica Community Schools recognizes National Merit Scholars and commended students

Utica Community Schools announced the names of students recognized in the 71st Annual National Merit Scholarship Program at the Oct. 20 board meeting.
Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mark Dziatczak presented lists of commended students and semifinalists from district high schools. The district noted that roughly 1.6 million students nationally enter the PSAT/NMSQT and about 16,000 are named semifinalists, representing approximately the top 1% in each state.
Board members expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments. Mrs. Rankin congratulated the students and Mr. Monroe commended their hard work and encouraged them to continue pursuing their goals.
Schools and named students included Eisenhower High School (Simon Kristensen; semifinalists Jack Luckino, Kristal Youhana, John Murphy), Henry Ford II High School (commended: Layla Bajric), Stevenson High School (commended: Shrey Bhatt; semifinalists Sophie Perry, Jackson Trice), Utica High School (Samuel John; semifinalist Marwan Hassan) and other district schools listing additional commended students and semifinalists as presented by the district.
