School committee unveils redesigned district webpage, DEIB statement and 'Ask the School Committee' widget

The Nashoba Regional School Committee reviewed and had no objection to a redesigned committee webpage on March 25 that elevates the district DEIB statement and adds tools aimed at improving access and two-way communication.
Amy Cohen, communications subcommittee chair, and Bridget walked committee members through the changes during a screen share. The redesign adds a prominent DEIB statement, a direct link to the planning calendar and policy manual, a video widget displaying the most recent School Committee meeting, and a new "Ask the School Committee" form intended to collect resident questions and notify committee members. "We asked Bridget to link the planning calendar up top so it was more obvious," Amy Cohen said.
The form fields include submitter email, name, town of residence, school affiliation and an open question field; emails submitted through the form will be recorded and routed to a responses page, and the committee recommended that the chair be authorized to respond on the committee’s behalf to questions received through that widget. Cohen and Bridget also discussed the need to transfer form ownership when committee members leave to avoid losing access; Cohen said she transferred form ownership to Shandor because her term is ending soon.
Committee members supported making internal documents—orientation materials and the school committee manual—more prominently available and asked for a "member documents" access point. Bridget said agenda items added to the district news feed will be surfaced as searchable news pieces that link to meeting materials; she also noted the team aimed to make the page easy to maintain.
The committee thanked the communications subcommittee and Bridget for the work and requested staff follow-up on how to set up notifications for the form owner and whether orientation materials could be added to the public page.
What’s next: Staff will finalize ownership settings and consider adding orientation and committee manual links before publishing. The subcommittee recommended publishing the page once those operational questions are resolved.
