Bourne — Superintendent Dr. Kerri Anne Quinlan‑Zhou told the Bourne School Committee on June 2 that the district will hold an in‑person high‑school graduation on June 5 and is not recommending remote learning for the 2021–22 school year.
Dr. Zhou said the graduation will be outside and that masks will be optional for that event. She described expectations for the coming school year as a return to closer‑to‑normal operations, saying the district is “looking forward to a ‘normal‑ish’ school year.”
Dr. Zhou asked the committee to schedule an additional meeting in June to present her Entry Report, which she said will cover trends, focus‑group feedback and continuity with regional partners such as Minuteman Regional Technical School (MTRS). The committee agreed to the request and administrators said the Entry Report presentation is planned for the June 16 meeting.
Building representatives and the student representative provided brief updates: Viveca Stucke outlined senior events and a transition back to in‑person activities at the high school; Bournedale Elementary and the intermediate and middle schools summarized end‑of‑year and transition events.
Dr. Zhou also reported that the district’s Equity and Diversity Committee will continue meeting through the summer with listening sessions and student surveys; she acknowledged Pride Month in that update.
The administration referenced DESE guidance in planning and said summer programs and ESY (extended school year) activities will follow existing guidance for the current school year.
