Administration may recommend opening School Choice seats in grades 6 and 9, committee told

The Finance Sub-Committee reviewed School Choice enrollment figures on March 19 and heard that School Choice currently represents about 9% of total district enrollment.
Sean Gallagher, a district staff member, said the administration may recommend opening seats in grades 6 and 9, and possibly grade 10, for the coming school year. Staff showed a video intended to explain School Choice and how it operates in Newburyport.
Committee members agreed to introduce the question of opening seats to the full School Committee on March 25; a vote on any recommendation is possible at the April 8 School Committee meeting.
