Three Oaks board keeps $100 park usage fee for nonprofits, allows multi-season reservations for Music in the Park

Village officials on Sept. 9 agreed to let Music in the Park reserve an entire season in advance for multiple years while keeping a $100 daily park usage fee for nonprofit events.
During the public-comment portion of the meeting, Village President Richard Smith relayed questions from two nonprofit organizations about the new Park Usage fee and reservation policy. He said Music in the Park asked whether it could reserve an entire season multiple years in advance and whether nonprofits would be exempt from the $100 fee. After discussion the Parks and Recreation Board, with Village Manager Dan Faulkner in support, recommended staff implement a three-season advance reservation option for Music in the Park and recommended no change to the $100-per-day fee, noting the expense of maintaining the park is the same whether events are private or nonprofit.
Board members instructed village staff to develop the reservation process and implement it through existing administrative procedures. No change to the fee was approved at the meeting.
