Residents report ponding, ask River Ridge CDD to study Pinehurst drainage

Resident Shari Perkins told the River Ridge Community Development District on July 23 that, a week after one pipe was plugged, drainage problems persist at the Pinehurst monument and water is "overflowing in the triangle monument area." She asked the board to consider addressing two drains on the monument and relayed a concern from resident Fred Kronke that a retention pond between River 8 and River 9 appears to be non-functional and is "nearly 1' above the drain."
District Engineer John Baker said plugging an inlet stopped water from one system flowing directly into another, but that the plugged inlet left "no place for the water to go" and described the situation as "akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe." He told the Board the likely remedy will require additional study and emphasized the value of photographs or video of the flooding for staff to diagnose the problem.
A Board Member asked whether there is video evidence of water bubbling out of the drain; Perkins said she will provide photographs and video to CDD staff. The Board directed staff to have the District Engineer view the drainage firsthand and investigate possible solutions, and staff noted Mr. Krebs is seeking additional proposals for inlet repair where applicable.
District Manager Chuck Adams clarified that the pipes in question ultimately discharge to the Estero River and described the route across private lots, the golf course and into a ditch to the River Club. The board did not take formal action at the meeting; staff will bring findings and any recommended repairs back to a future agenda for consideration.
