Selectmen approve minutes, greenlight PTO tree sale and vote to enter executive session for contract talks

At their Nov. 5 meeting the Nahant Board of Selectmen approved several routine items, approved a community event request and voted to adjourn to executive session to discuss contract negotiations.

The board moved and seconded a motion to approve selectmen meeting minutes from Sept. 23, Oct. 1, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, 2025; members recorded their approval in a roll-call vote. The board then approved an event request from the PTO to host a Christmas tree sale at the Lands parking lot beginning Nov. 29; the sale will be held Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Johnson School PTO.

Later the chair moved that the board adjourn to executive session under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 30A, section 21(a)(2) to conduct strategy sessions in preparation for contract negotiations with the new town administrator, stating an open meeting could harm the public body's negotiating posture. The motion was seconded and passed by roll call; the chair declared the meeting would not return to open session and recording was stopped.
