Minocqua Plan Commission recommends ARP #23-26 for storage facility to Town Board with conditions

The Minocqua Plan Commission voted to recommend Administrative Review Permit (ARP) #23-26 to the Town Board, subject to conditions including receipt of a formal letter from Oneida County and a requirement that a representative be present at the Town Board meeting to present design plans and colors.
James Rein Jr., the applicant, told the commission the project calls for three storage buildings with flexible unit sizes and 16-foot side walls. Rein said the units will be served with electricity only; there will be no water service or dumpsters on site. He said access will be from the existing frontage road off Highway 51 and that the driveway access from Spruce Street will be closed.
Commissioner Mark Pertile asked whether there was a shared-access agreement or any commitment to repair the frontage road; Rein replied there is no such agreement. Rein also said the access point will be moved north to stay away from existing gas pumps. Rein confirmed trees on the lot will be removed to make room for a required retention pond, and he said parking surfaces will be gravel and there will be no floor drains in the buildings.
The commission noted it had not received a formal, written response from Oneida County despite a verbal indication the county had no concerns. To avoid delaying the applicant, the commission voted to forward the permit to the Town Board with the conditions that (1) a letter from Oneida County documenting no concerns be provided and (2) a representative for the storage buildings attend the Town Board meeting to present final design plans, including colors. The motion was made by Billy Fried and seconded by Joe Hegge; the voice vote carried 6-0.
The applicant informed the commission he could not attend the Town Board meeting but said an owner (identified in the minutes as Adam Alesauskas) would be present.
The Town Board will consider the Plan Commission's recommendation; the commission did not take final action to approve construction at this meeting.
