The Mountainaire Homeowner Association board on June 8 reviewed a $2,784 repair estimate from Northwest Playground and asked for a third‑party inspection to assess the playground’s overall condition and useful life.
Homeowner Tiffany asked whether a full playground replacement had been discussed; Channing said the association has budgeted for replacement at the 15‑year mark but the current playground is only about eight years old. Channing also inspected a small tear (about 1 inch) in a pipe and said the damage could be temporarily remediated for safety with weatherproof tape while the board pursues a formal assessment.
Board members and several homeowners said they would like to gather neighborhood preferences — for example, whether to add a swingset or revamp the play area for older kids. Caralee recalled that, circa 2019, the community declined a roughly $25,000 city park funding offer because of concerns about parking for nonresidents. Channing encouraged homeowners to revive the Playground Committee and Tiffany suggested the board invite volunteers through the next community newsletter.
The board did not take a formal vote on replacement or repairs on June 8; it directed staff to obtain a third‑party inspection report to inform next steps. The association’s property manager provided the repair quote and will circulate the inspection timeline and findings once available.
