Sylvan Lake council reappoints board members, appoints a new review member and approves auditing contract

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Sylvan Lake City Council reappointed Bud Krause and Mark Raukar to the Planning Commission and reappointed Patty Harrop, Ed Robbins and Shane Doyle to the Boat Dock Committee. The council also appointed Luke Cassar to the Board of Review. All appointment motions were moved and passed unanimously.
Council also approved an auditing services agreement with PSLZ, PLLC as presented. The motion to approve the contract was moved by Councilmember Zubrzycki and supported by Mayor Cowper; the meeting record lists Cowper, Buchanan and Zubrzycki voting in favor and records the motion as carried.
During council comments, Councilmember Buchanan thanked the Department of Public Works for keeping roads clear and announced the recent grand opening of a local business, Polish'd Nails. Mayor Cowper said work on the seawall is moving forward, and Councilmember Zubrzycki encouraged residents to support local businesses.
Public comment included a single speaker, Nicole Menuck, who asked the Planning Commission and City Council to revisit absenteeism policies for appointed boards and commissions. No formal action on absenteeism was taken at the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:22 p.m.; Clerk Meggan Brown signed the meeting record.
