Stockbridge council approves audits, contracts and budgets; adds treasurer and forgives resident bill

The Village of Stockbridge council met Jan. 16, 2025, at 118 N. Center Street and unanimously approved a package of routine financial and operational actions, including paying $134,434.01 in bills and authorizing several vendor contracts and budget changes.
President Ogden called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the council completed a roll call that recorded Cattell, Morehouse, Fairbotham, Howlett and Ogden as present; Powers‑Taylor was absent. The agenda and corrected minutes for December were approved before substantive items were taken up.
Karen Lancaster of the Woodhill Group reviewed the village’s financials for the council before members moved to votes. On a motion by Morehouse, supported by Howlett, the council approved payment of $134,434.01 in bills by unanimous roll call (Good, Cattell, Morehouse, Fairbotham, Howlett, Ogden).
Under unfinished business the council approved a one‑day utility billing audit by BSA for $1,000 (motion by Morehouse, supported by Cattell), a measure added to the agenda earlier in the meeting.
In new business the council took several vendor and personnel actions. By motion of Howlett, supported by Cattell, the council added Santana Luettgen, the newly named village treasurer, as a signer on State Bank accounts. The council also approved a $14,200 quote from Boyd Heating and Cooling to install HVAC in new office space (motion by Howlett, supported by Cattell).
On the village’s lagoon weed control, the council approved contracting with Aqua Weed and passed an amendment that set the contract language to an upper amount described in the minutes as "not less than up to the amount of $10,000," after which the amended motion carried unanimously.
The council forgave a $450 resident bill and agreed to absorb the cost of jetting a main at 211 Garfield Street (motion by Fairbotham, supported by Cattell). Members then adopted a resolution amending the General Appropriation Act for March 1, 2024–Feb. 28, 2025, and approved the Stockbridge DDA proposed budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year; both measures passed on unanimous roll calls.
During public comment a resident identified as Anderson invited the council and public to a town‑hall meeting on Jan. 23, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the village offices. Councilor Cattell thanked attendees for tolerating his coughing, and Councilor Morehouse commented on building improvements, police‑department authority and the village’s new financial reports.
The council listed upcoming meetings, then adjourned at about 9:00 p.m. on a motion by Good, supported by Cattell.
Actions recorded at the meeting included vendor contracts, a bank‑signer appointment, a resident billing forgiveness, and two budget resolutions; all recorded motions passed by unanimous roll call.
