District leaders outline 'Middleboro Learning Together' and teacher leadership academy after retreat

Superintendent Mrs Lions used her Aug. 15 report to recapitulate an Aug. 5–6 leadership retreat that convened principals and directors for planning, legal review and strategic work. The retreat included a "legal year in review," negotiation preparation, student‑services updates and a procedure review.
Two new initiatives were introduced. "Middleboro Learning Together" is designed to increase family engagement and provide multi‑format district communications — handouts, webinars or a podcast — intended to help families support student learning. The superintendent described it as a way to bring building leaders into public‑facing work on topics such as math support or literacy.
The other initiative, "Middleboro Learning Academy," is aimed at teacher retention and leadership development. The superintendent described the academy as an opportunity for staff to pursue leadership growth inside the district, from teacher‑leader roles to possible future principal or director positions. The retreat also covered implementation planning for a revised IEP document and a focus on streamlining district initiatives to reduce staff burden.
The superintendent said she will return to the committee with further details on both initiatives and has made a legal review available to administrators. The committee asked about access to materials and thanked the leadership team for the work.
