Judge Jamie Wilfong administered the oath of office to three newly elected members of the Randolph County Schools board and to Dr. Derek Lambert, who repeated the oath to support the U.S. and West Virginia constitutions and to faithfully perform duties.
The board meeting began at about 5:30 p.m., when President Burns called the regular meeting to order and asked Dr. Derek Lambert to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. After the pledge, Wilfong swore in Charles R. Hall and other members; members signed documentation and were welcomed by families and board colleagues.
Dr. Derek Lambert repeated the oath, pledging to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of West Virginia and to perform his duties honestly and faithfully. Those present congratulated the newly sworn members and welcomed families in the audience.
During superintendent reports, the outgoing superintendent—speaking in the designated superintendent reports slot—thanked the board and staff, praised recent decisions made over the past three months, and formally turned leadership to President Burns and Dr. Lambert. The superintendent encouraged the new members to continue cooperative work with staff and to build on recent progress.
The board noted there were no public-delegation signups for the meeting and discussed scheduling work sessions for goal-setting as the board transitions. The next regular meeting with the newly sworn board members was set for July 6, per state scheduling requirements.
The meeting adjourned at about 5:51 p.m.
