Three Oaks council approves rezoning, event street closures and several municipal measures in unanimous votes

The Three Oaks Village Council on Sept. 11 approved a series of motions by unanimous vote, including a conditional rezoning, event street closures, an auditor contract, park planting and downtown decorations.
Key votes and outcomes
- Rezoning: The council approved rezoning 9 West Linden from R-1 to MU-2 (moved by Niemzyk, supported by Kramer). The motion carried with all members voting aye.
- Changemaker Studios service agreement: The council voted to proceed with revisions to the service agreement with Changemaker Studios (moved by Niemzyk, supported by Hinman); the DDA will fund the project and DPW will maintain the area.

- Banner poles: Council approved purchasing and placing two 65-foot AEP poles near the railroad tracks for banners, contingent on grant funding and Amtrak consultation.

- Swan Song Lift Station easement: Tabled pending attorney Hilmer.
- Wightman sidewalk design and bid: Council members raised questions about costs and specifications and had submitted questions to Wightman; the matter remains under review.
Votes were recorded in the minutes as unanimous where noted. The council also approved the consent agenda (minutes, invoices and payroll) and set the 2024-25 budget meeting for Sept. 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
